Bates College China by Wedgwood
Wedgwood & Sons issued two editions of china for Bates College. In the 1940s a full place-setting was
produced with a choice between two scenes for the dinner plates, Hathorn Hall and The Chapel. The bread
& butter plates bore only the Hathorn Hall scene. In 1984 a series consisting of dinner plates and cups
and saucers was produced. The dinner plates in this set are only found with The Chapel scene. The
dishes were produced in a soft rose, or dark pink if you will, color on cream colored earthenware, known
as Queen’s Ware.
