Phillips Exeter Academy Plates by Wedgwood

Royal Cauldon (England) issued plates for a few schools in the 1930s, including
Dartmouth College and Phillips Exeter Academy. When Royal Cauldon was bought out,
Wedgwood took over production of the plates for these schools using the same
transfers used by Royal Cauldon. The Dartmouth plate sets look nearly identical, with
few differences including the shape of the cup handles. In the early 1970's, Wedgwood
issued this single plate for Phillips Exeter Academy, showing the new Library, designed
by Louis I. Kahn and completed in 1971. Transfer printed in red on a Queensware (fine
earthenware) plate, 10 inches in diameter, with a custom designed border featuring the
school seal at the top of the plate.
