Wellesley Has First Bas-Relief Border

"The Wellesley series offers the interesting composition of campus etchings framed by a
natural border in bas-relief. The vistas through depicted in soft tones appear in
character heightened against the warm ivory. The embossed border is dominated by
the Wellesley seal relieved by scrolls of oak leaves and acorns with the addition of
lattice panels to harmonize the whole."

From "Commemorative Plates by Wedgwood", a pamphlet
published in 1931 by Jones, McDuffee & Stratton, the major US china importer of the time, based in
Boston.
